Shared Public Assets

Since the Hidden Hollow Landfill was opened in 1972, Ada County has systematically and strategically acquired property around the site to create a buffer in an effort to shield commercial and residential development from any negative impact from daily landfill operations.

Some of that land has recently been turned into multiple uses, through partnerships with others. That process has allowed the public to use the land for such things as recreational opportunities without charge while continuing to shield the landfill from other development.
