Juvenile Court Director
Director Dawn Burns provides leadership and guidance for approximately 150 Juvenile Court Services employees, spanning four functional and collaborative divisions. Director Burns also works very closely with ACJCS stakeholders and partners within Ada County, and the community.
Terry Shaffer
Detention Division Manager
Terry Shaffer provides leadership for approximately 65 staff members within the detention division, ranging from detention officers, to medical and kitchen staff. Residents in our 71-bed detention facility receive federally-accredited health care, food services, and a variety of educational programs. This division also promotes and participates in alternatives to secure confinement.
Lael Hansen
Probation Division Manager
Lael Hansen leads a team of approximately 50 staff within the probation division. Juvenile probation officers provide a broad range of services to the community, from prevention programs and court diversion, to intensive supervision of juveniles involved with the court system.
Jeff Schatz
Programs Division Manager
Jeff Schatz oversees approximately 25 team members in the programs division. They provide substance abuse assessments and programming, mental health assessments and programming, and counseling services. This division also manages Victim Services, the Community Service program, Work in Lieu of Detention (WILD), web-based drug and alcohol education, and the court's alternative GED program.
