A 27-year-old Boise man is being held in the Ada County Jail on a $1 million bond for attacking another man late last month.
Anthony Reed Schmidt is charged with felony counts of aggravated battery and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.
Ada County Sheriff’s Office deputies began their investigation Aug. 27 when they were sent to a home in the Locust Grove/Franklin roads neighborhood for a report of a stabbing.
Deputies arrived to find that a man who lived at the home was holding a towel on his bleeding neck.
That man later told deputies he answered the front door at the home and was suddenly attacked by a man he did not know. He said the attacker pulled out a razor and cut him across the throat before running away and getting into a car.
Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.
Detectives began collecting evidence and doing interviews and were able to identify Schmidt as a suspect by early September. It appears Schmidt attacked the man after talking to a person both men knew.
Ada County Prosecutors issued the arrest warrant for Schmidt Friday. Ada County Sheriff’s Office deputies located Schmidt hours later and arrested him without further incident in a public parking lot near the Broadway Avenue/Linden Street intersection in Boise just after 1 p.m. Friday.
Schmidt is set to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon. The crimes of aggravated battery and use of a deadly weapon charges are both punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
