Beginning in November 2010, the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office now offers the additional support of Facility Dog, “Sunday,” to vulnerable victims and witnesses of crime. Sunday is a highly trained, certified assistance dog who works as a team with trained handlers in the Victim-Witness Unit. Sunday is able to provide comfort and support to vulnerable victims, which reduces anxiety and helps calm the fears of vulnerable crime victims who are navigating the criminal justice system. She is especially adept at calming child abuse victims.
Sunday is a yellow lab/golden retriever mix. She was bred and trained by Canine Companions for Independence in Santa Rosa, California. Sunday is the first Courthouse Facility Dog to be placed in the State of Idaho.
