RE: | Bryan C. Coy-Sentencing |
On August 23, 2017, Bryan C. Coy was sentenced by Fourth District Judge Richard Greenwood for three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. Coy was sentenced to serve a total of twenty (20) years in prison with the first seven (7) years fixed.
On March 28, 2017, three Ada County Sheriff Deputies went to a house in Boise where Mr. Coy and his father were living to serve an arrest warrant on Mr. Coy’s father. As the deputies were taking Mr. Coy’s father into custody while standing just outside the front door, Mr. Coy appeared in the doorway and without warning fired his 9mm handgun at the deputies from a distance of just a few feet. After firing the first shot, Mr. Coy’s gun jammed, preventing him from successfully firing any more shots. The deputies returned fire, striking Mr. Coy several times. On June 13, 2017, Mr. Coy pled guilty to the three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
