Phillip Dewayne Law was sentenced today for his role in a fight which resulted in two victims being stabbed outside of the Torch Lounge in Boise on October 16, 2014. Jesus Fabian Hurtado survived being stabbed in the chest. Humberto Herrera was also stabbed, and died at the scene.
Law and his friend Parley Ward were both arrested after running from the scene. They were found hiding underneath a ramp to a portable classroom on the grounds of a local elementary school. Law pleaded guilty to Aiding and Abetting Voluntary Manslaughter and Aiding and Abetting Aggravated Battery.
The Honorable Judge Samuel Hoaglund sentenced Law to a prison term of 15 years, with the first 7.5 years fixed. He ordered the Defendant to pay a $5,000 civil penalty to each victim, and to reimburse the County for the services of the public defender, who represented him.
